Red route

Three borders
Trojmezí, a settlement on the northwestern edge of the Czech Republic, is located at the point where Bohemia, Bavaria and Saxony meet. This unique location attracts tourists who want to stand on the border of three countries at the same time. In addition to the symbolic tri-border point, the surroundings offer beautiful nature and a peaceful atmosphere. Lovers of summer refreshment will appreciate the local pond with a grassy beach, ideal for swimming and relaxation.
Limit
Hranice, the westernmost town, was founded in 1413. It belonged to the Zedtwitz family and flourished in the 19th century thanks to the textile industry. During World War II, German troops surrendered here to the American army in 1945.
Today, they attract tourists with their history, beautiful nature and monuments, including the three-border area and the westernmost railway station in the Czech Republic. The surrounding area offers great routes for hikers and cyclists.
Spring
Studánka, a part of the town of Hranice, is located only 3 km from the German border and 10 km from Aš. It was first mentioned in 1392, when it belonged to the Neuberg family. The village has had a turbulent history – it was destroyed by wars in the 15th century, but revived in the 16th century. In the 19th century, it became a pioneer of the textile industry – the first steam spinning mill in the Aš region was built here.
Today, Studánka is an ideal place for those seeking peace, nature and history. The surrounding forests and trails attract tourists and cyclists to explore this forgotten pearl of West Bohemia.
Beautiful
A beautiful, picturesque village in the Cheb district, it is the westernmost village in the Czech Republic. It is located just a short distance from Aš and boasts a rich history dating back to 1331. For centuries it belonged to the Zedtwitz family and its fate was linked to the textile industry and border changes after World War II.
Today, Krásná is an ideal place for nature lovers and tourists. From here, the route leads to the westernmost point of the Czech Republic, the long-distance trails Stezka Českem and Via Czechia begin here, and cyclists can enjoy routes leading all the way to Germany. The village was awarded the title of Village of the Year in 2015 and offers a wide range of sports and cultural activities.
Ash
Aš, a town on the border of Bohemia and Germany, is an ideal place for nature and history lovers. Explore the Smrčina Mountains, popular for hiking and cycling, or head to Háj Hill with its lookout tower, which offers magnificent views. Aš is also home to historical monuments, such as the stone bridge from 1724 and monuments dedicated to the American army and the textile industrialist Geipel. Thanks to the cycling routes 2058 and 2060, Aš is a great starting point for exploring Western Bohemia and Germany.
Liba
Libá is a village where history and nature join forces. Visit the place where the inn used to stand, which served as a gym, dance hall and later a cinema until 1988. Today, unfortunately, it is in ruins, but the memories of it live on.
Not far from the red route is the Libá Chateau, originally a 13th-century castle. It was rebuilt in the Baroque style and is now a protected cultural monument. It has a rich history, changing owners and was seriously damaged by fire in the 1980s.
