Cycle route 2065 will take you through a beautiful border region where nature and history merge into one. The route starts in Kančí údolí, continues through the historic Polná and Hazlov with the reconstruction of the castle, and ends in Vojtanov, where it connects to the Krušnohorská magistrála. The route offers not only picturesque views, but also a glimpse into the fascinating past of these villages.

Boar Valley

Cycling route 2063 begins at the crossroads near Kančí údolí. The place is surrounded by beautiful nature - Jelení vrch (627 m) and Kozina (642 m) rise above the valley, and the stream that flows through it was once known as Pstruží potok.

Field

The route continues in the direction of the former border company. Polná lies on the edge of the Smrčiny nature park. Since 1307 it has been part of the Zedtwitz estate and later became part of the Aš district. After World War II, most of the inhabitants were displaced. Today Polná is part of the village of Hazlov. Of the historical buildings, the farmstead no. 10 with a half-timbered gable and a chapel with folk decoration have been preserved. Polná is also known for several religious monuments, such as the Passion of the Lord and crosses.

Hazlov

Hazlov, one of the oldest villages in the Aš region, has its roots in the 12th century. It originally belonged to knights who became famous for their robberies. In the 17th century, it passed into the hands of the Moser family, who restored the brewery and built a church. The Romanesque castle was rebuilt into a chateau, but fell into disrepair after World War II. Only the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and the brewery remained. The reconstruction of the chateau began in 2018. The municipal office and library moved to the first reconstructed building. The café and reading room in the renovated attic were financed from the Village of the Year 2019 award. The staircase tower was also reconstructed, from which a beautiful view of the surroundings will open in the future.

Vojtanov

At the crossroads in the center of Vojtanov, the cycle route ends and connects to cycle route 23, known as the Krušnohorská magistrála, which connects the Czech Forest and the Krušné Mountains. Vojtanov, once one of the largest villages in the Cheb region, is now a small village, but it is still known as a border and customs point between the Czech Republic and Germany. The village was founded in the late 13th century and its name comes from the German "Rychtářova mýtina". In the past, it was known for its prosperity, mainly due to its strong connection to the world and cheap labor. Around 1935, the village had 650 inhabitants, but it never had its own church or cemetery. Today, it is known for its Asian markets and historical monuments, including former textile factories and a railway connection.

Schönberg (Beautiful Mountain)

A short detour will take you to the Saxon Schönberg, the southernmost municipality in Saxony, which was founded before 1234. The road, marked as a cycle path, will take you here. In Schönberg you can visit the Evangelical church, the castle with a park, the lookout tower on the Kapellenberg (759 m), a prehistoric fortress, and on the opposite side of the road the protected Großer Teich pond and the Säuerling mineral spring. After the tour, you will return to Vojtanov and can continue along the Ore Mountain Highway cycle path.
