Lecture COMMUNICATION IN THE FAMILY WITH AN ONCOLOGICAL PATIENT

Unfortunately, the statistics are relentless and clear - every third resident of the Czech Republic will develop cancer during their lifetime . We will all encounter cancer without exception . Although the chances of recovery are slowly increasing compared to previous years as medicine develops, it is still a huge psychological burden and challenge for both the patient and their loved ones .

We would like to help, but we don't know how. In the face of this serious illness, we remain paralyzed and, for fear of making a mistake, we often do nothing and say nothing.

Šárka Šteinochrová , who herself was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma and subsequently contributed to the establishment of the organization MOTHERS WITH CANCER , will give a lecture in our library on the topic: COMMUNICATION IN THE FAMILY WITH AN ONCOLOGICAL PATIENT , and in this lecture she will explain how best to communicate with a sick person so that our words are supportive and that we avoid clichés in communication that do not help the situation at all.

The lecture will take place on May 19, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM in the adult department.
