17.11.2026

We cordially invite you, along with the student parliaments and MěDDM SLuníčko Aš, to a joint celebration of the Day of Struggle for Freedom and Democracy and International Students' Day!

We have been participating in the celebrations in Aš and Hranice for several years now. And every year we deal with the same question: how to be in both places, how to coordinate everything in time, and who among us will be where. This year we decided to try it differently. Why split up when we can celebrate together?

And so the idea was born to connect Aš and Hranice with one common day. We will meet in Aš in the morning, reminisce, talk and remind ourselves of what freedom means to us. And then we will board the Freedom Bus together, which will take us to Hranice, where we will end the celebrations with a cultural program, a film premiere and another joint meeting.

  • MORNING IN AŠA | 10:00

Gardens of the Aš Museum

We will start a little unconventionally – with a Brunch for Freedom, prepared for us by Ondra Kurák. At a common table, we will meet with the witnesses of November 1989 in the Aš region, listen to their stories, and give space to students and intergenerational conversations about what freedom means to us today.

  • BY BUS TO FREEDOM | 16:30

From Aš we will set off together to Hranice.

Departures:
16:30 – People's House
16:35 – Cinema
16:38 – Stop at Goethe

  • EVENING IN THE BORDERS | 5:11 PM

Library and museum

In Hranice, we will be waiting for a performance by the R. Schumann Aš Art School, a student speech, the opening of the exhibition The Case of Hazlov 1949, and a screening of the film "Breaking the Dam", a documentary by the Memory of the Nation about the Velvet Revolution in the Karlovy Vary region.

We will return to Aš together by bus, the expected departure from Hranice is between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM.

We look forward to reminiscing, meeting, talking and celebrating freedom together. A moment when different generations, different stories and two neighboring cities meet.

Because freedom is not a given. And it is worth remembering. Not only individually, but especially together.

We thank all partners, organizations and people who are involved in the preparations and thanks to whom we can experience this year's November 17th in a slightly different way.

Come celebrate freedom with us. In Aš, in Hranice, or ideally in both places!
