Stories of Forest Gardens – documentary film and discussion with the author

With author Kateřina Horáčková, we invite you to a screening of a documentary film that will bring you a lot of inspiration for your gardens.

An edible forest garden is a type of agroforestry system, sometimes described as an “edible forest”, that combines several layers of edible and useful plants, similar to what we find in a light forest. These gardens combine the cultivation of trees, shrubs, herbs and vegetables of various heights, bringing fresh fruits rich in vitamins and amino acids closer to our kitchens and dining tables. In such a garden, there is always something interesting to observe or eat – be it leaves, berries, stems, roots, mushrooms … or just a bench for quiet contemplation.

Thanks to enthusiasts from the Permakultura CS association and DharmaGaia Publishing House, a documentary was created that provides a look into several Czech edible forest gardens and captures the real experiences of their owners. Let yourself be inspired by the pleasant atmosphere from the film and invite the forest gardens to you too.

Forest Garden Stories maps the enthusiasm and experiences of people who, in various places in Bohemia and Moravia, decided to establish a garden as we know it from literature, but also according to their intuition and their own needs. The forty-minute film is not a detailed guide, but rather an inspiration and a taster that complements the book of the same name on how to garden in greater harmony with nature. The film will be followed by a discussion with Katka Horáčková, co-author and director of the film, who will also bring seeds and books on the topic.
