We started noticing stone crosses during our wanderings around castles. After reading Vladimír Preclík's book "Stones of Peace", we started looking for them purposefully and later according to professional literature. Eventually, we became members of the Society for the Research of Stone Crosses at the Museum in Aš.

Searching for stone crosses is a collector's passion, sometimes even life-threatening. Old crosses are often found in old fields, overgrown paths or on difficult-to-access lands.
We had to overcome obstacles to obtain photo documentation. My husband even broke a rib when he fell into an unsecured excavation behind the cross. You can see what sacrifices a collector is capable of...

Over the past twenty years, we have documented around a thousand stone crosses, cross stones and steles. The exhibition consists of a selection of the highest quality photographs. Jarmila Kumpoštová
