A large-format mural depicting a portrait of Gustav Geipel , a significant figure connected to the history of the city, has been completed on the back wall of the Textile Museum in Aš . The author of the work is renowned street artist David Strauzz , who is introducing his new exhibition in Aš with this work.
The grand opening of the exhibition entitled INSPIRA: Breath and Ouroboros will take place on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 5:00 PM in the premises of the Aš Museum . However, the exhibition itself will be installed in both museum buildings – the Aš Museum and the Textile Museum – and will last until July 31, 2025 .
Strauzz's project explores themes of transformation, renewal and the search for identity in the context of an urban environment. He draws inspiration from the ancient symbol of the ouroboros – a snake devouring its own tail – and its profound psychological meaning according to CG Jung . The exhibition is thus both a visual experience and a personal statement .
David Strauzz was born in Canada , has lived and exhibited in Boston and New York , and has been living and working in Prague since 2015. His studio and home are located in Žižkov , where he draws inspiration from urban life on a daily basis. He works with spray painting, collage, decollage, and assemblage techniques, and his art often connects found objects and fragments of urban aesthetics into new meaningful wholes.
Come see how contemporary art touches the history of the city of Aš and transforms its public space.
