The westernmost city of the Czech Republic, located in the Aš Peninsula, is where the borders of Bohemia, Bavaria and Saxony intersect. With a history dating back to the 15th century and a network of cycle paths copying old trade and border routes, it is an ideal destination for cyclists.
Local routes will take you not only along the traces of former industry, but also across border crossings that today freely connect neighboring countries thanks to Schengen.
History enthusiasts will be impressed by the RAF memorial, commemorating the fate of a downed British bomber, the ancient churches, and the architectural atmosphere of the city's buildings.
Spring
Studánka is an ideal place for cyclists who want to explore the Ašský výbežek. It is located on the route between Aš and Hranice and offers a convenient connection to the surrounding cycle paths. The road leading through Studánka splits towards Hranice and Pastviny, so cyclists can adapt the route to their taste.
If you need a break, right next to the Studánka railway stop, where the Cheb–Aš–Hranice line passes, is the Nový rybník swimming pool – an ideal place to refresh yourself on hot days. The stop is modest, but it can serve as a starting point for further trips around the region.
Doubrava
Doubrava is a great destination for cyclists who want to combine sport with history and nature. It lies on the border with Saxony and is easily accessible from Aš along a picturesque hiking trail along the Bílý Halštrov. The route leads directly to the former chateau, where the famous paper mills were once located, and continues to the renovated Pramen skolíte (Century Spring), whose mineral water is reminiscent of the spa in neighboring Bad Elster.
Thanks to the open border crossing, you can extend your cycling trip to Germany and discover the spa landscape there. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax, Doubrava offers not only historical monuments, but also the beautiful nature of the Halštrov Nature Park.
Views
The viewpoints are a great destination for cyclists looking for beautiful views and interesting historical sites. Located at an altitude of 687 meters, it promises not only fresh mountain air but also attractive routes.
Cycle route 2062 takes you to the Halštrov spring, which is marked by a historical stone monument from 1898. From there, you can continue along the paths towards Horní Paský or the German village of Bärendorf. Along the way, you will come across an ancient Passion, a boundary stone from 1844, or the remains of a fortress from the 14th century.
Liba
Libá, a historic village with a Gothic castle, is a great destination for cyclists. It lies on cycle route 2063, which leads through the forests to the Skalka reservoir. You can connect to EuroVelo 4 towards Františkovy Lázně or use the border crossing in Hohenberg to ride along German routes.
Dubina

It is also the end of cycle path 2062, which will take you all the way to the Dubina–Libá border crossing. A perfect combination of history, beautiful nature and great cycle routes!
